Response to CQC

We were inspected by CQC in July and September this year and were rated as overall Requires Improvement.

The report acknowledges that many changes were already in place or were made immediately to deal with any issues that were raised. We are therefore very confident that when we are inspected again, we will be rated as Good.

We would appreciate the opportunity to give you an up to date view of what we are doing at Inwood and discuss any questions that you may have because of this latest CQC report. There are some key points to note:

Caring and Responsive Staff team

The reports praise the care and dedication of the care team at Inwood and included the following observations:
• Staff were “caring and supported people with dignity” and “encouraged people to make choices and supported them to maintain their independence”
• Mental Capacity Assessments and DoLs applications were all in place
• Care plans were noted to be “detailed”, “individualised” and “reviewed regularly”

Management of the home

The report highlights that at the time of the inspection there hadn’t been consistent management within the home. Shaikh and his team are now well-established in the home and have steadily made improvements and we trust that this team will now provide some ling-term stability for our residents, their families and our staff. Please get in touch and let them give you a guide to all the exciting developments at Inwood.
Our Senior Management team was also extended in September 2021 to include Anne Godwin, our new Quality and Development Manager to ensure that we have robust auditing and compliance processes in place.

New Care planning system

At the time of the inspection, we hadn’t yet fully completed our training on PCS, our new care planning system. Unfortunately, we’re not able to show CQC how effective our use of this system is in ensuring that we monitor the care given.
The implementation of PCS is now complete so please give us a call if you would like any more information on how we are using this system to monitor the care that we deliver to your loved one.

Meaningful activities for all our residents are a key part of what we do at Inwood. We have had a full-time activities professional on board for several months and please see our facebook page and website to get an idea of the things that have been going on. Again, please contact us if you would like some more information.
We continue to conduct surveys of our residents and families – copies are available on request if you would like to get an idea of how we are now doing at Inwood.
