Answers to Common Questions About Care, Costs & Daily Life
We know that arranging care for someone you love can feel like entering a whole new world — with unfamiliar terms, emotional decisions, and lots of questions.
Here, we’ve answered some of the most common queries from families just like yours. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, our friendly team is always happy to help.
What types of care do you offer?
We provide residential care, specialist dementia care, and respite care. Each is tailored to the individual, with full support plans built around their needs, preferences, and lifestyle.
What is respite care?
Respite care is short-term care — ideal if a family carer needs a break, you’re going on holiday, or your loved one is recovering after hospital or illness. Stays can range from a few days to several weeks.
What is residential care?
Residential care is long-term, full-time care in one of our homes. It includes help with daily tasks such as washing, dressing, eating, medication and mobility — alongside accommodation, meals, and activities.
Do you offer nursing care?
While we are not classified as nursing homes, our care teams work closely with district nurses, GPs and visiting professionals to ensure medical needs are met. If full-time nursing care is needed, we’ll help guide you to the most suitable option.
What is dementia care?
Dementia care offers safe, structured support for those living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Our staff are specially trained to support memory loss, behavioural changes, and cognitive decline in a way that promotes calm and dignity.
Can I visit before making a decision?
Absolutely. We strongly encourage you to book a tour of any of our homes. You can meet the team, see the rooms, and ask any questions in person.
Do you cater for dietary needs?
We do. Our chefs prepare fresh meals daily and cater for vegetarian, diabetic, coeliac, halal, and other dietary requirements. Menus change seasonally and we always take personal preferences into account.
What’s a typical day like for residents?
Days are built around each resident’s preferences. There are regular mealtimes, social activities, quiet time, and personal care — all with support from friendly, familiar staff. Our goal is to make every day comfortable, engaging, and respectful of the individual.
Are activities and events included?
Yes. From arts and crafts to exercise classes and music sessions, our homes offer a full schedule of optional activities — all included in the weekly fee.
Can residents personalise their rooms?
Yes! We welcome small items of furniture, photos, decorations and keepsakes to help make each room feel like home.
How much does care cost?
Fees vary depending on the home, room type, and care required. You can expect prices to range from £800 to £1,300 per week. Respite care is priced slightly higher due to short-term flexibility. See our Fees & Funding page for more detail.
Do you offer support with funding applications?
Yes — we’ll help guide you through local authority assessments, NHS Continuing Healthcare eligibility, and top-up payment advice. We’re here to make the process less stressful.
Are there any hidden charges?
No. Our fees include care, meals, accommodation, housekeeping, and activities. Any optional extras (e.g. hairdressing or private therapy sessions) are clearly outlined and discussed in advance.
Can we visit our loved one at any time?
We encourage regular visits and have an open, family-friendly policy. We may ask for notice during busy periods or in case of health precautions, but you’re always welcome to stay involved.
Can family members join for meals or activities?
Yes. We love welcoming relatives to join meals (with a little notice) or take part in activities and trips. You’re an important part of life at our homes.
What support is there for families?
We provide regular updates, family meetings, and always encourage open communication. We also offer emotional support and practical guidance throughout the journey.
How do I arrange care for my loved one?
It starts with a simple conversation. Get in touch and we’ll arrange a tour, answer your questions, and carry out a care needs assessment to help determine the best plan.
Is there a waiting list?
This varies by home and room type. Some rooms may be available immediately, while others may have short wait times. Please contact us directly to check current availability.
Can you accommodate urgent placements?
Yes, where capacity allows. If you need urgent care (e.g. hospital discharge), we’ll do our best to arrange a quick and smooth admission process.
